Automile Blues Captures Emotions at Car Dealers

This video perfectly captures the mood of many car dealerships around the country. The staff at this dealer, located in the Boston area near Boston Used Cars dealers, struggles to be optimistic in a time when sales and customers in their showrooms are evaporating.

A low consumer confidence and a weak economy have kept plenty of would-be car buyers from showrooms. Many that do try to buy a car often can’t because banks simply aren’t lending money. Consumers don’t want to buy products from a company they think will be going out of business, which is precisely what this video illustrates.

The bleak outlook for car dealers is translated in this video in a very honest and tangible way. Consumers, the government, and of course the dealers, can’t predict when people will feel comfortable spending money again, and that’s what car sales boils down to according to Pittsburgh Used Cars dealerships. While there are plenty of people who want to somehow change how the business operates, the video points out that “It’s your car, and how much?” sums up car sales - it’s that simple, and there's not much to change, which Boston Hyundai dealers seem to agree with. Unfortunately, the problem lies with the economy, and dealers are forced to wait out the current recession.

2008 Volkswagen Passat CC Hits Dealer Showrooms

The all-new Volkswagen Passat CC debuted at the 2008 North American International Auto Show, and has finally reached dealer showrooms such as Volkswagen Saint Louis where the new sedan has already received plenty of attention. VW refers to the new CC as a “four-door coupe,” thanks to its low roof and raked windshield. Although the new Volkswagen has four doors, it has the profile that’s more coupe than sedan.

Volkswagen’s four-door coupe is by no means a new concept. The Mercedes CLS, which has been a constant standout at Maryland Mercedes-Benz dealers, also shares the popular four-door coupe design philosophy that seems to be the latest rage in German automotive design.

While the VW Passat has become a bit stodgy for some buyers, Dartmouth Volkswagen dealers believe that the new Volkswagen Passat CC may be what VW needs to not only liven up its lineup, but also add a more premium image.

Ford Fiesta Doubles as a Submersible

Top Gear has built a reputation of giving vehicles the most extensive test of their abilities. On the latest episode, Clarkson does exactly that with the likes of the Ford Fiesta.

Ok, so the Ford Fiesta doesn't exactly inspire excitement. But this goes to show what Americans are missing, as the Euro-spec Fiesta is sporty, well-built, fuel-efficient, and attractive (without the green paint of course). Ford Los Angeles customers hope that the Fiesta will cross the pond soon, along with other sporty and high-quality cars available to European buyers. Even Detroit Chevrolet hopes that GM will alter their strategy and add sexier European models to their domestic lineup.

Hopefully we'll see this level of style and performance in domestic cars soon. Afterall, you never know when you'll need to escape from baddies in a Corvette while at the mall.

Jeremy Clarkson's Take on the Toyota Prius

The Toyota Prius has become an icon within Toyota's lineup. As the best selling hybrid, Toyota's Prius has become crucial to the automaker amidst dwindling sales and higher demand for fuel efficiency.

While the Toyota Prius is an incredibly efficient car, this video points out that its real MPG numbers don't quite match its status as the high-efficiency leader in real world driving conditions. There are plenty of cars that can achieve higher levels of efficiency, and offer drivers more quality and performance.

One of the most polarizing features of the Prius, which simply isn't addresses in this episode of Top Gear, is that it's a very unattractive car. While efficiency is great, we hope TRD has some sporty Toyota accessories that can spruce up the car should owners feel the need.
